Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Seeks Permanent Border Resolution with China.
In a significant development at the recent SCO defence summit in Qingdao, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called for a permanent solution to the long-standing border dispute with China. Highlighting the need for structured engagement, trust-building, and restoring existing border management mechanisms, Singh emphasized that unresolved tensions remain since the 2020 standoff that claimed 24 lives.
India’s firm stance reflects a strategic shift toward sustainable peace. China, while expressing a willingness to maintain broader bilateral ties, did not issue a joint statement. The foreign ministers have agreed to resume direct air services and enhance military communication channels.
